地球サミットでの、セヴァン•スズキさんの­スピーチ

今から21年ほど前に、12歳の女の子が、リオデジャネイロで行われた地球サミットでのスピーチを聞きました。地球上に起きているいろいろな問題を、的確に、分かりやすく、また、情熱的でありながら冷静に発言していました。

子供の目線から物事を見ていて、ありのままの自分の気持ちを訴えているのだと思いました。彼女の言うことが全くその通りで、また、21年経った今も現状はあまり変わっていないのが悲しく感じました。

彼女の言っていることは、実現不可能なことではなく、スピーチしている内容の全てが、人間の考え方を変えれば、さほど難しい問題ではなく、実現をすることが出来る内容です。

大人の目線から見ると、ほとんどが認識していて、分かっていることばかり、彼女が言うように、すぐにアクションを起こすことが大事なことだと感じます。

0:37using my future is not like losing an election

0:45i’m here to speak for all generations to come

0:49i’m here to speak to speak on behalf of the starving children around the world

0:57i’m here to speak for the countless animals

1:01because they have nowhere left to go

1:05i am afraid to go out in the sand now

1:08because of the holes in our ozone

1:11i’m afraid to be in the air

1:13because i don’t know what chemicals are in it

1:17i’d used to go live i_d_’s go fishing in vancouver myhome with my dad until just

1:23a few years ago we found the fish

1:25full of cancers

1:28and now we hear of animals and plants going extinct

1:32everyday banishing forever

1:36in my life

1:37i have dreamt and seeing the great herds of wild animals

1:41jungles and rainforests

1:43from birds and butterflies

1:45but now i wonder if they were even exist

1:48from my children to see

1:51did you have to worry of these things when you are my age

1:56all this is happening before our eyes and yet we act

1:59is if we have all the time we want and all the solutions

2:06i’m only child and i don’t have all the solutions

2:09but i feel i want you to realize neither do you

2:14you don’t know how to fix the holes in our ozone layer

2:18you don’t know how to bring some the salmon back up in are dead stream

2:22you don’t know how to bring back an animal now extinct

2:26and you can’t bring back

2:28the forests

2:29the whites group where there is now a desert

2:32if you don’t know how to fix it

2:36stop breaking it

2:39here you may be delegates of your government

2:42businesspeople

2:43organizers reporters

2:45or politicians

2:46but really

2:48your mothers and fathers

2:50sisters and brothers

2:52aunts and uncles

2:54and all of you

2:55assignments child

2:59i’m only a child yet i know we are all part of the family

4:05we were shocked when we spend time with some children living on the streets

4:10this is what one child told us

4:13at which

4:14i was rich

4:16and if i were i would give all of the street children

4:20clothes

4:21medicines

4:22shelter

4:23and love and affection

4:26if a child on the streets who has nothing is willing to share

4:31why are we gonna have everything still so greedy

4:36i can’t stop thinking

4:38that these are children my own age that it makes the tremendous difference where

4:43you are born

4:46could be one of those children living in the fed bella’s of rio

4:50i could be a child starving in somalia

4:54victim of war

4:55in the middle east

4:57by a beggar

4:58in india

5:00i am only a child yet i know

5:03if all the money spent on war

5:05we spent on finding environmental answers

5:08ending poverty

5:10and finding treaties

5:11what a wonderful place this earth would be

5:15at school

5:17even in kindergarten

5:19he teaches how to behave in the world

5:22you teach us

5:24to not to fight with others

5:26to work in sap

5:28to respect others

5:30to clean up and that’s

5:32not to hurt other creatures

5:34to share

5:35not be greedy

5:37then why do you go out and do the at do the things you tell us not to do

5:42do not forget

5:44why you are attending these conferences

5:47rule you’re doing this for

5:49where your own children

5:53you are deciding what kind of a world we are going up there

5:57parents should be able to come for their children by saying

6:00everything’s going to be all right

6:02it’s not the end of the world’s

6:05and we’re doing the best we can

6:08but i don’t think you can say that to us anymore

6:11are we even on your list of priorities
